VANS X HELLZ BELLZ

I haven't copped kicks in a while because I really haven't seen anything that floats my boat, and I'm kind of still fuming that I missed the Lacoste Hironia (MTTM)...

Generally I hate Vans, this has been blogged numerous times - mainly because in Australia every Surry Hills based 'artist' wears a uniform which sadly includes these safely mediocre foot muffs. It's safe to say that practically 90% of the Vans wearing population in Sydney are a) a budding musician b) a budding artist c) has a rockabilly tattoo of sorts d) has a mustache and e) wears their jeans spray on and d) has an award winning collection of plaid picnic blanket shirts.

BUT - when Vans branches out and collabs with a killer brand like Hellz the result is absolutely wonderous! These boots are absolute sexy time and are so reasonably priced at $85 a pop. I love the zipper details as well as the eyelets which remind me of our good old friend the Timberland. It's been a while since I've worn anything but kicks (work wear exempt) but these are something I would love to rock.

I will mos def be grabbing them (hopefully). Insano in the braino.

MOST EPIC TEXT MESSAGE EVER

I QUIT MY JOB!

I'm leaving MTV to go and work at Socialista media which includes the very cool properties:

2threads
(fashion community)
Thiswayin
(parties, events, reviews, social snaps et al)
Estile
(flash sale site for designer rags)

Check em all out! I'll be calling the shots in the sales department and hopefully contributing to the growth of the little guy. I start on Feb 1st so I have a few more weeks left at MTV before the big move.

I'm sad to say goodbye to MTV who've been epic amazing to me over the last 18 months, and who I've met so many talented peeps through - but the time has come for a new challenge for me which is bound to involve less Jaegar!

I HAVE BEEN BUSTING TO ANNOUNCE THIS FOR WEEKS! xo

MADEME FLORAL LEATHER MOTORCYCLE JACKET

I seriously shouldn't be shopping, esp when I go back to The States in a month from today... BUT... When Erin from MadeMe did a tweet-out last week saying the leathers were on sale then I had to bounce on it.

SO I SCORED THIS FUCKING SICK JACKET WHICH I HAVE WANTED FOR SOOOO LONG!

I am like a puppy waiting for the postman and as soon as it lands in my hot (and sweaty) little hands I am going to go to the bottle shop and stand in the walk in beer fridge and vogue the fuck out of this between the cartons of grog. I NEVER thought I would be begging for winter to come early but daym I wana wear this so bad.

WOOP WOOP! New amazing mani from my man at Sleek Nails

I took in a piccie I found on this fine webosphere somewhere and he replicated it beautifully! I think they are very Miami-grandma - think visors, pink perms and gold glasses chains.

HOMEMADE HEADWEAR

Devotee's of my way of life aka readers of this fine publication will know that I occasionally like to dabble into crafternoon and whip up some weird and wonderful head-wear with whatever I come across at the $2 shop..

Well I finally decided to rock out one of last years creations at Days Like This Festival over the weekend (which was dope).

It attracted me a lot of attention on the day (success) as well as after the fact when I posted this amazoid picture on Facey which was taken by my friend Smipsy.

The bandana print material was actually the hem I cut from THIS dress which I scored circa one year ago in sweet SF at a thrift store on Divisidero.

I also wore the Nike acid wash shorts I have been harping on about with denim air max 90's and a white singlet cropped into a half shot. Don't think I was sober enough to get a full length snap. Shame.

NEW PURCHASES AND PARTIES

Look what I scored on eBay!

It's going to look dope with my Nike acid wash denim shorts

If it arrives by Friday (which I'm doubting, but praying for none the less...) then maybe I will rock it out at the first Halfway Crooks for 2010 which is this sat night! Bound to be big, nay, fucking huge. Sorry liver. Sorry mum.

BACK TO THE STATES I GO

So I'm heading back to The States next month and fuck this trip has crept up on me. All of a sudden I'm on a 5 weeks count down with zero clams to my name post Christmas and a hell of a lot of shit to sort out before I depart.

I'm flying in and out of SF, and heading to Vegas and NYC in between. I've gone and booked myself some damn sketchy domestic flights and am scoping out the whole accoms thing now.

When I was in NYC in August I used the site Airbnb and rented a guys apartment in the LES. It was actually fucking awesome and the site feels safer than that old rapist Craigslist because you actually pay through the site rather than randomly trusting unauthorised sources with your fantastic plastic.

So this time I think I am going to get my own pad in NYC again for the 5 nights (probs LES again not BK because you always end up in an LES bar at 4am), Vegas I'm going to stay at the Tropicana because it's cheap and tacky and close to the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre (I'm going to MAGIC) and in SF I have decided to rent a room in the Castro off a middle aged gay man who lives in a beautiful terrace close to Duboce Park...

I've also been doing some more research for new bars/shops to hit up, especially in SF where I'm keen to find some new haunts sans old memories. I def want to visit the usual's like HUF, Laced, Harputs, The Hundreds and True, but I've found a few more including Free Gold Watch which sells this KILLER tote bag!

I'm harnessing a lot of self restrain right now to stop myself from buying it online...

Any recommendations on places to visit are more than welcome, please!

LOVE YOU M.I.S.S!

Big love to the ladies at M.I.S.S for giving me some HP frontage for the Sneaker Freaker Best of The Best 09!

SOBER JANUARY - POSTPONED FOR A YEAR, OR TWO....

The last three months of 2009 were massively debaucherous and saw me drinking, whether at home or out every night of the week. I had a fucking ball, but even I knew that the party girl must get locked in the closet for a while as I sort out my life, liver and love for both.

2009 was meant to be '2000 and Mine' but as several of my girls will agree, things didn't turn out quite like that. 2009 was undoubtedly a good year - I had a killer year at work, went to The States twice, took my mum to the Northern Territory, did Melbourne a million times and took this blog to new levels of narcissism in profiling my work for Acclaim, Sneaker Freaker, Twothousand as well as managing to dress myself day in day out - but alas it ended in a bad break up and I now I don't even speak to the once love of my life... Moving on...

This year holds for me a change in career (deets to come next week) a new project launching in March (deets to come in Feb) a new house mate, and a total reassessment of my attitude and outlook on life.

Sober January, realistically, was totally unrealistic. There are so many good parties on, and at the end of a hard week there is nothing more I enjoy then getting written off and dancing like a retarded sweating mess. I think the key to practicality in my partying lifestyle is 'moderation' and maybe ignoring the massive cocktail on my leg which tells me to have 'One Drink 4 Courage' Ahem.

SO... The new rules for success are: No mid week drinking. No wine with dinner, no sneaky beers and definitely no school night benders... UNLESS I have a client function or a super good international act is out etc. Stop rolling your eyes, that's a legal loophole/clause...

THEN... One night of weekend boozing only. None of this getting wasted all weekend and sleeping all day when the sun is shining outside and getting no work done shit.

ALSO... No beer/wine/cider/bourbon - these are the culprits in my cottage cheese looking legs. I never had cellulite when I was a drug pig! Booze has made me porky so I'm outsmarting it's sugary delights but sticking to Vodka + Soda with fresh lime only. I'm also walking to work 3 times a week. Fuck this is sounding ambitious? Oh yeah and I've quit smoking too, well, I can smoke when I drink so I'm smoking once a week... Baby steps eh.

That all said, here's a selection of goodness to enjoy in ONE SINGLE WEEKEND of non-sober January. Fuck you Sydney for having such an epic fucking month of partying. When on when will you give my wallet a break baller?

Friday night: Diplo & Amanda Blank

Saturday Day/Saturday night: Sydney Festival featuring Al Green (for free!) then Method Man/Redman then a warehouse party in my hood...

Sunday: Days Like This Festival

Monday: Hatesville

DESERT DECADENCE

I borrowed this Penelope Benton image from Das Superpaper.

I think it's an absolutely beautiful image and especially so because it reminds me of my gorgeous friend Grace, as well as reminding me of another Sydney blog, The Heartbreaker.

MY HAIR - NEXT STEPS

So I need something happening with my hair or I will probably cut it off again because I am finding long hair boring and uninspiring and all I end up doing is putting it up in a sumo bun...

I just found this pic on Jazzi McGilberts blog and think I have struck gold. I'm already orange, so maybe I should get this colour in the front?

"THE 80s ARE BACK" POWERHOUSE MUSEUM EXHIBITION

Well, to be honest, the 80s WERE back circa 07/08 and currently the 90s are back in all things popular culture....

But in light of the fact that the Museums target market are probably middle class suburban families - then yes, the 80s is back.

The exhibition covers music, video games, fashion, film and TV and runs from December 13 - late 2010, so, no rush really....

Details here

THINGS I AM POTENTIALLY ATTENDING THIS WEEK

There is a lot going on, I like all of the below, but the game here is to figure out what I will and won't attend:
Stalkers, I'm making shit hard for you this week.

THE WINNING STREAK CONTINUES

Last week I won a vinatge Nike denim acid wash skirt which I was super pumped about as this era of Nike denim is downright rare.

This week I upped the anti by winning these mens Nike acid wash denim shorts!! They were sewn in '88 and are part of the Andre Agassi 'Challenge Court' collection of which I already own the jacket, pictured below....

I have NEVER even seen these shorts before and cannot even communicate how fucking excited I am not only to have found them, but that they are in my size and are in the post on their way to my loving legs! Maybe there really is a Santa Claus and he buys all his gifts off eBay?

I can see this occuring in the very near future: Me + shorts + jacket + denim bow + denim air max = Canadian tuxedo.

'DJING' DEBUT RECAP

I put Djing in inverted commas because I use the term loosely... I think it would be insulting to any REAL DJ for me to proclaim that I did the same thing they do, because realistically I created a playlist, burnt it onto 2CD's and cross faded.

That said, when you're playing to a Wed night crowd from 8-10pm, I don't think mixing skills are pertinant to the crowd having a ballin' time and as my friend told me 'It's all about track slection'

Fuck oath it is and we had that place pumping! Drake, Biggie, Public Enemy, TLC, Tupac, ThreeSixMafia, The Roots, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Dizzee, De La Soul etc etc party hiphop killing it styles!

Best part was our opener and closer.... We opened with Peter Andre 'Mysterious Girl' and closed with OMC 'How Bizarre' hahahahahaha

Anyway - watch this space because we'll be back in January with better fading skills!

Oh yes... The 'we' in myself and my girl Mini. Clearly I have terrible taste in tunes and am only good at being a back up dancer / the face of the PR campaign. We have a third girl joining the crew too. Oh yes. It will be ridiculous.

THE FACEHUNTER ON 2THREADS

I've been hella busy lately, just partying and interviewing blogging sensations like The Facehunter, no biggie...

LOOK WHAT I WON?

Won is  such a deceitful word, really, cos I still gots to pay for this shizz... Anyway....

I've been getting back into the 'Bay of late which I haven't dabbled with in a long time cos of the insane fantastic plastic debt looming over my head... But I figure it's the silly season so that includes insane spending as well as boozing, eating, smoking etc etc

So I have an Andre Agassi Nike denim jacket which I got off said 'Bay last year, but have never seen anything for the bottom half in the same style...

Then I found this acid wash Nike denim baby, who'll be in my loving arms next week. There is a god.

Denim scene, acid wash crew for life. (That was Grace's and my response to a random dude on George St who asked us if we were going to a dress up party because we were both in acid wash - answer was of course no - and then he followed up that gem by asking us what 'scene' we hung out in. Ha!)
